Ideally, if believers desires to get married, it is the right thing to consult their parents and then their congregation of which a Pastor has an oversight.
The duty of the Pastor is to teach them the will of God concerning marriage and encourage them. We do it and we call it “marriage class”. Enrollment to this class shouldn’t also be restrictive and herculean.
Anything outside teaching and counselling is extra and merely ceremony. The role of the Pastor has never changed from teaching and counselling to masters of ceremony.
Pastors should stop trying to take over the entire life of a believer by standing in every decision they make. Every believer should know when the opinion of a Pastor is needed and when it is not.
The Pastor is a Pastor who teaches the gospel and not necessarily a relationship coach or a business expert.
